Eight people have been arrested after taking part in a protest by the Last Generation group, which temporarily halted all flights at Frankfurt airport, according to German police.
According to a police spokesperson, seven people managed to enter the airport grounds on Thursday morning and remained stuck on the two central runways.
Another person was stuck at the airport fence and was also arrested.
Flights at Germany’s largest airport were temporarily suspended due to the protest, but flights partially resumed on all four runways at 8 a.m. (0600 GMT).

Two of the activists have already been freed from the platform and handed over to state police, federal police said.

Emergency services from the police, fire brigade and airport security are parked on the apron of Frankfurt Airport, where two activists have tied themselves up. Several protesters had forced their way to the airport early in the morning and tied themselves up there. This temporarily halted air traffic. It has now partially resumed. Arne Dedert/dpa
