The Special Investigation Service employees also had the opportunity to participate in the International Criminal Investigations Network’s working meeting in Madrid.
The Internal Criminal Investigation Network (ICIN) comprises 26 countries, including Georgia. The Internal Criminal Investigation Network aims to ensure the exchange of the best international practices on the methods of investigation and enhance international cooperation between the member states.
Along with the Georgian side, law enforcement officials from Malta, Germany, Slovenia, and Denmark, as well as representatives from the Swedish Special Investigations Department, the Independent Investigation Authority of the Netherlands, the Metropolitan Police of Great Britain, the General Inspectorate of the French National Gendarmerie, the National Police of Spain, the Bureau of Internal Affairs of Estonia, and the National Security Service of Hungary attended the meeting.
Throughout the working meeting, the participants of the represented countries shared their experiences in planning and carrying out investigative actions, establishing an investigative strategy, and methods of sharing operational information, and ensuring the efficiency of the Whistleblower Institute.
The Special Investigation Service was elected as a member of the “Independent Police Complaints Authorities’ Network” (IPCAN) and the “International Criminal Investigation Network” (ICIN) in 2023.
The Special Investigation Service investigators, to acquire the best international experience, will actively continue to be involved in such events in the future.
