Muss lesen

“Under Arms: Fire & Forget 2” is currently on display at the Museum Angewandte Kunst in Frankfurt until March 26. This group exhibition serves as an extension of the previous show “Fire & Forget: On Violence” held at the KW Institute for Contemporary Art in Berlin in 2015. The exhibition explores themes related to violence, warfare, and weaponry through various artistic mediums.

The exhibition features a diverse range of works, including Bernard Khoury’s video installation “POW 08 CONOPS [Concept(s) of Operations]” from 2008, and Clara Ianni’s “Natureza Morta ou Estudo para Ponto de Fuga, Berlin (Still Life or Study for Vanishing Point, Berlin)” from 2010/2015, which uses metal plates with bullet holes from ammunition used by the Berlin police. Additionally, the show includes pieces such as Extranight’s “Extranight Gun” from 2015, and James Bridle’s “Drone Shadow” from 2016, among others.

The exhibition also incorporates works by artists such as James Piatt, Marcelo Cidade, and Omer Fast, each offering unique perspectives on the themes of violence and conflict. Through a combination of visual art, installations, and video works, the artists in “Under Arms: Fire & Forget 2” engage with complex issues surrounding war and the military industrial complex in contemporary society.

Overall, “Under Arms: Fire & Forget 2” provides an insightful and thought-provoking examination of the impact of violence in our world. Through the lens of contemporary art, the exhibition prompts viewers to consider the consequences of warfare and the proliferation of arms, inviting reflection on the role of art in addressing pressing social and political issues.
